Types of Service

Drafting DRAFTING:

We are able to provide architectural drafting services for small projects (i.e. single family homes, remodels, additions, tenant improvements, etc.) to homeowners and contractors. Such services include attendance of meetings, site measurements, drafting, submittal of drawings to the local building departments and obtaining of permits. For specialty engineering requirements, we will subcontract the services to approved and qualified consultants, coordinate the information flow and include all design details and information in a single set of design drawings.

Construction CONSTRUCTION:

Currently we have 4 personnel with general contractor licenses, issued by the states of California and Nevada. The projects completed by these license holders include all aspects of work related to residential construction and tenant improvements. As part of a development team, the same personnel has been involved in commercial, retail and residential developments. Consequently we may provide general contracting and project management services on a variety of project types and sizes, and will consider any request for construction or management proposals.

Development DEVELOPMENT

During the development of any property, residential, commercial, industrial or retail, there is always a need for expert services regarding construction cost, for the use in establishing of budgets, cost monitoring and/or value engineering. If appointed, we will become an active part of the development team, providing cost estimating services before construction, in the form of conceptual, preliminary and final cost estimates, during the construction with the review and recommendations regarding submittals of payment applications and change order requests and after construction with final accounting and close out of the project.

Disputes DISPUTES

As in any industry, where there exists a contractual agreement between parties, there is the possibility of disputes regarding performance of work, payments owed, changes to the agreed scope, conformance to set schedules, materials provided, adherence to specifications, etc. We can assist in the resolution of these disputes, by evaluating all contractual obligations and on-site performances, through the review of all documents, schedules, financial records and interviews of critical personnel. If needed, we will recreate any on-site performances through drafting of as-built schedules, which will expose any deviations between intended and actual performances.

Insurance INSURANCE

We provide insurance assistance regarding property loss, construction claims and personal injury.

For property losses, we would inspect the effected property, recreate any conceptual drawings and make a financial assessment of the loss value. Our final report will match the applicable format used by the client.

If a claim is made against the insurance policy of a contractor or subcontractor, relating to either the workmanship or materials provided, we would assist in evaluating the claimed condition through the review of any contracts or project documents, on-site inspection of the conditions and research of any trade or industry standard. In conclusion, we would provide a reasonable cost estimate to repair the claimed condition, and if required, we would determine the responsibility of the client towards the noted condition.

In personal injury claims, we will review all reports regarding the injury (i.e. project, records, site conditions, etc.) and visit the location, prior to providing our opinion regarding the cause of the injury and the responsible party.

LITIGATION

Litigation We provide expert opinions and testimony in construction defect litigation, in the defense of contractors and subcontractors. We will designate an expert within the company, who will assist the client (attorney) in the evaluation of project correspondence and documents, inspection and evaluation of as-built conditions and research the conformance to building codes and industry standards. Experts will attend and document visual site inspections and destructive testing, fully assess damage and liability plus make recommendations during mediations. When required, we will perform repair cost estimates and evaluate any report presented by the consultants for other parties. The designated expert will also provide testimony during any subsequent depositions and trials.

At present, Mr. Slabbert is the designated expert for the company and has provided litigation consulting on more than 500 projects, including trials. He has attended settlement and mediation meetings to assist in bringing about a fair and equitable out-of-court resolution.
