Site Civil Engineer

Position Summary

The Site Civil Engineer will support the planning, design, permitting, and execution of land development and infrastructure projects throughout New Jersey. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing site engineering designs, coordinating with project teams and regulatory agencies, and delivering high-quality engineering solutions for commercial, residential, industrial, institutional, and municipal projects.

The ideal candidate possesses strong technical knowledge of site development, grading and drainage design, stormwater management, utility design, and local and state permitting requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and develop site engineering plans, reports, calculations, and technical specifications for land development projects.
  • Design grading, drainage, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, utility systems, paving, and site layout improvements.
  • Prepare engineering plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D and related design software.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic calculations using industry software such as HydroCAD, StormCAD, and related analysis tools.
  • Assist with feasibility studies, due diligence investigations, and conceptual site planning.
  • Coordinate project requirements with clients, architects, surveyors, environmental consultants, and other design disciplines.
  • Prepare permit applications and supporting documentation for municipal, county, and New Jersey regulatory agency approvals.
  • Attend client meetings, planning board hearings, agency meetings, and project coordination meetings as required.
  • Conduct site visits, field investigations, and construction observations to verify compliance with approved plans and specifications.
  • Review contractor submittals, respond to requests for information (RFIs), and provide engineering support during construction.
  • Assist Project Managers with project scheduling, budgeting, proposals, and client communication.
  • Maintain quality control standards and ensure all deliverables comply with applicable codes, regulations, and engineering standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • 3-8 years of experience in site/civil engineering, land development, or related engineering fields.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred; New Jersey Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure preferred.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Experience with stormwater analysis and design software such as HydroCAD, StormCAD, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with New Jersey land development regulations, permitting processes, and local approval procedures.
  • Strong understanding of grading, drainage, utility design, and site development practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
