Conrad Consulting are delighted to be partnering with a globally recognised multidisciplinary consultancy in their search for an experienced and commercially astute Architectural Studio Lead to join their growing team in Southampton.
This senior leadership opportunity offers the chance to lead and develop an established architectural studio while driving business growth across the South Coast, South East and wider Southern regions.
This role would suit an ambitious Architect with a strong background in design leadership, project delivery, business development and team management. You will play a key role in expanding the architectural portfolio, strengthening client relationships and leading the successful delivery of projects across a diverse range of sectors including commercial, education, public sector, residential, and defence.
The Position - Architectural Studio Lead
As Architectural Studio Lead, you will take responsibility for the strategic direction, operational management and design leadership of the Southampton architectural studio.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing leadership and strategic direction to the Southampton architectural team, ensuring high levels of performance and engagement
- Driving the continued growth of the Southampton studio through the development and implementation of regional business strategies across the South Coast and surrounding areas
- Establishing and strengthening relationships with key clients, consultants, contractors and industry stakeholders to support long-term business success
- Proactively identifying, pursuing and converting new business opportunities through frameworks, tenders, negotiated work and strategic partnerships
- Leading the delivery of multidisciplinary projects, coordinating teams from early feasibility and concept design through to completion
- Taking responsibility for Design Management and Lead Consultant duties on complex and high-profile commissions
- Ensuring projects are delivered successfully, maintaining commercial performance, programme targets and exceptional client service standards
- Promoting a culture of design quality, innovation and technical excellence throughout the architectural team
- Supporting the professional growth of colleagues through mentoring, coaching and leadership development
- Overseeing team resourcing, utilisation, recruitment and staff development to ensure the studio is positioned for sustainable growth
- Working closely with regional and national leadership teams to support business development initiatives across the commercial, education, defence and public sector markets
About You
The successful candidate will possess:
- ARB and/or RIBA accreditation
- Significant post-qualification experience within a UK architectural practice
- Previous experience in a  Associate Director, Associate Architect or Senior Architect position
- A strong portfolio demonstrating excellence in both design and project delivery
- Experience working across commercial, education, public sector and local government projects
- Proven business development and client relationship management skills
- A successful track record of securing work through bids, tenders and framework opportunities
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing projects through all RIBA work stages
- Strong commercial awareness and project management expertise
- Excellent design, technical and leadership capabilities
- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and experience working within a BIM environment
- Exceptional communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills
- Full UK Driving Licence
