Associate Director (Architecture) - Manchester Studio

A rare and strategic leadership opportunity has emerged within a national, Architectural practice with a well-established Manchester presence. Following recent senior-level changes, the practice is now seeking an experienced Architect to take ownership of its growing city-centre studio and help shape its next chapter.

About the Practice

With studios across the UK and over a decade of success in Manchester, this practice is known for delivering high-quality work across Residential, Industrial, and Healthcare sectors. The Manchester team currently sits at around eight people, with board-level ambition to grow the Manchester studio this year, and beyond.

The Opportunity

As Associate Director of the Manchester studio, you will become the driving force behind its growth, culture, and project delivery. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who thrives on responsibility, enjoys mentoring others, and wants to build something distinctive within the Manchester market.

You will take the lead on:

• Studio leadership - guiding the team, shaping culture, and supporting junior colleagues
• Recruitment and growth - expanding the studio and strengthening its capability
• Design and delivery oversight - steering major projects through technical stages
• Client and consultant coordination - representing the practice at senior level

This role will suit someone forward-thinking, open-minded, and motivated to make a meaningful impact.

What We’re Looking For

• ARB/RIBA Architect with 10+ years post-qualification
• Proven leadership experience at Associate, Associate Director, or Director level
• Strong communication skills - written, verbal, and presentation
• Experience delivering large-scale projects in relevant sectors
• Ambition and confidence to lead a studio and drive its growth

Project Portfolio

The Manchester team is best known for its Residential work - including medium/high-rise developments, masterplanning, and retirement living. They also deliver notable Industrial and Healthcare projects.

If the incoming Director brings expertise in additional sectors, the board is open to developing new workstreams, with full support for diversification.
