Senior Quantity Surveyor - Civil Engineering

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join an established civil engineering and infrastructure contractor delivering a diverse portfolio of major projects across Scotland.



This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused Senior Quantity Surveyor to take responsibility for the financial and contractual management of significant civil engineering projects, working closely with operational teams, clients and subcontractors.



Key Responsibilities



  • Take commercial responsibility for projects from pre-construction through to final account.
  • Manage project budgets, costs, forecasting, valuations and cash flow.
  • Prepare and submit applications for payment, variations and final accounts.
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, payments, accounts and commercial performance.
  • Identify and maximise commercial opportunities while managing financial risk.
  • Prepare monthly CVRs and provide accurate commercial reporting to senior management.
  • Manage contractual correspondence, notices, changes and extensions of time.
  • Review and negotiate subcontract and supplier agreements.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers and operational teams to ensure projects are delivered commercially and effectively.
  • Monitor project performance against budgets and forecasts.
  • Assist with dispute resolution and contractual negotiations where required.
  • Mentor and support junior Quantity Surveyors and commercial staff.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.


Requirements



  • Proven experience working as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, infrastructure or construction.
  • Strong commercial and contractual knowledge.
  • Experience managing projects from pre-construction through to final account.
  • Strong understanding of NEC and/or other major forms of construction contract.
  • Excellent cost control, forecasting and financial reporting skills.
  • Strong negotiation and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider commercial team.
  • Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline is desirable.
  • Professional membership such as RICS is advantageous but not essential.
